My newest work, a colored pencil rendered collage of some Cub Scout camp memories, called, appropriately enough "Adventure Camp (2013), #91 in the Collage Series. Not quite finished piece, but close enough to unveil.

Sitting Around
Another day at home. Second load of laundry finishing it's Tom's Twister dry cycle in the cold, cob-webbed, leaky basement. Dishes done, twice already and once or twice more before bed. Cigarettes smoked, cups of coffee drank; so much so had to brew another kettle full twice this day. Squeak of the door as the bathroom opens and wifey heads back to work station, college books open on desk; chill of my own feet, stocking against the cold carpet, my own second-, or third-handchair squeaking as I shift, from hip to hip trying to ease the pain old Army injuries left behind for eternity. Telephone rings, like old-time movie, at critical moment of time, phone still corded, connected to wall, connected to community from days before the ephemeral connection of Wi-Fi, space connections being shared today. Old Scout leader calling, confirming ride to meeting, mentor and family, a mensch and a friend. Back pains, legs cold, coffee colder still...new cup on the horizon, aspirin for the headaches, another note on the calendar, then maybe a little bed rest...big night lie on the horizon; being the clown, being the educator, being the observer, being the helper, being the friend...fulfilling the commitment, fulfilling the dreams, fulfilling the promise.
